Aja Gilles is a vocalist based in the birthplace of Jazz: Harlem, New York. Her broad repertoire includes jazz standards, Bossa nova, Samba, and many rare songs in between. Her fusion is best described as “Sun-Kissed Jazz”. 

She began her musical career at the age of 7 with the Saint Bartholomew’s Boy & Girl choristers. With this choir, she sang at cathedrals across England, recorded 2 albums, and sang alongside musical greats such as Jessye Norman and Sylvia McNair. Aja attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and graduated with honors. She was also accepted in the Cissy Houston Academy and received formative mentoring from Mrs. Houston. 

Aja dazzles audiences with her sultry voice. She blends soft crooning with dynamic scatting and vocalese that recalls artists of the past. Among her influences, the New York native cites Nancy Wilson, Elis Regina, Julie London, Ella Fitzgerald, and Eartha Kitt, who once lived on the very street that Aja resides.

With a carefully curated setlist and wardrobe, she pairs the elegance and glamour of the Harlem Renaissance with the understated sophistication and romance of 1960’s Brazil. Recapturing the electric energy of the past, Aja puts a sultry spin on every song she touches.

Aja is currently performing throughout the tri-state area, establishing her presence as a prominent voice in the New York City music scene. She is comfortable leading her own band, ranging from a duo to quintet, depending on space available. She is also often featured as a guest singer for many talented musicians across on the east coast.

Costume & Styling

Aja Gilles is a stylist based in New York City. She began working in the TV / Film industry in 2015. She has worked on countless movies, tv shows, commercials, and campaigns. Through various projects, she’s adapted to working in both the costume and wardrobe departments as needed. In 2019, she branched out to editorial work. She’s taken on roles from Assistant Stylist to Market Editor and everything in between. When she’s not working on a project, she offers her skills as a personal stylist and shopper.
